asLaw
A legal resource center for the D/deaf and hard of hearing.
What do we do?
Resources
We provide examples of d/Deaf friendly law firms.
ASL Fact Gathering
How it works
A d/Deaf individual experiences a criminal activity. They make a call on their VRS device to 911
Police/Emergency personnel show up to their residence. Deaf person shares details with them
They then call asLaw.
Our experts get a call about a case.
We provide interpreting fact gatherers who gather information from the d/Deaf individual. They ask them specific questions and are trained to get every detail about the event.
We provide resources about d/Deaf friendly law firms and our client picks.
We give that information to the firm that the d/Deaf individual is working with.
Our Mission
To provide a legal fact-gathering helpline to the d/Deaf and hard of hearing community members and provide legal resources to those individuals. To bolster accuracy for the d/Deaf when it pertains to capturing the facts of emergency and urgent situations. In addition, to provide access to law firms that are d/Deaf friendly and compatible.
Note: We are not ourselves lawyers we are providing the services above and not legal action ourselves.
